DO NOT RECOMMEND - San Antonia Hospital

 I went to Hospital San Antonio in 2 weeks ago for a minor stomach infection. Horrible place. The staff were using their cell phones without gloves and then touching the needles used to draw blood for lab exams.

Very disturbing practices here. We were told by phone it would be like 3 to 4 hundred dollars, The cost ended up over $3,500 USD for a stomach infection.

They ordered a tons of useless tests and made me wait in the ER for 8 hours...a simple dose of Cipro is all I needed . They made me get a CT Scan!!!

For what? All I needed was some Cipro. Read the reviews on Google, this place is a scam.

 Not recommended. Then when I asked them to explain the bill to me and why it was so high for useless tests they brought out some young doctor to take the heat. They actually threatened to call the Chapala Police if I did not quite down.

Are they that desperate?

They got me in a vulnerable situation and tried to take advantage of me as female gringo. The doctors there are deceitful thieves who's willing to worsen your health as long as they make money.  They will make any false claim to get you to stay.

Please don't make the same mistake I made and waste your time and health. I never leave reviews but I've never had such a bad experience and would like to warn anyone who's sick not to trust someone as cruel as some of the doctors in Hospital San Antonio in Riberas.

A few of my friends also have had similar bad experiences there. In the future I will goto Guadalajara instead. This hospital is a total scam and  they only care about money. Please don't make the mistake of coming here!!! The doctors are careless, unorganized, and sexists. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Scams in Lake Chapala Healthcare

  A California woman visiting Mexico had to have two emergency heart surgeries. Now Hospital San Antonio headed by Sr. Calderon won’t release her until she pays a $40,000 bill. U.S. officials have warned travelers about hospital scams in Mexico.   A representative of the patient reached out to  Hospital San Antonio in Lake Chapala  and no  one at the hospital spoke enough English to answer any questions. The patient was visiting friends in Ajijic when she began having trouble breathing.
