Hospital San Antonio del Lago de Chapala

   I just had the worst scam from   San Antonio Hospital ! After a ruptured appendix operation and 4 days in the hospital, my bill reflected charges for a heart problem, a psychiatric evaluation, a case  of pneumonia ,  and a blood pressure problem (low) for which they insisted I need a peripheral internal catheter directly into my heart. I refused but was still charged.  I believe they are running scams.  Especially on foreigners.  I am an otherwise healthy senior who has routine medical care in the US. I have never had any of these problems nor take any medication. Oddly I never developed pneumonia.  Beware !

 My sister was trapped in Hospital San Antonio and forced to pay $100,000 It could happen to anyone but in this case it happened to my sister Recently my sister Jane and her husband of Lafayette, LA came to Mexico to attend their daughter’s wedding. My sister encountered chest pains and was taken to Hospital San Antonio by the Red Cross. The doctors said she needed surgery and required a $30,000 payment up front which max’d out the their credit cards. Then they were told that she needed a second operation and that an additional $30,000 had to be paid. At this point extended family was contacted and soon those cards were also max’d out. Meanwhile the bills kept mounting and a nationwide “GoFundMe” campaign was begun. As the surgical a care treatment costs continued to rise, "..they were threatening to put her literally on the streets if she did not pay up front. They threatened to move her to the IMSS hospital in Guadalajara which made no sense because IMSS is for workers....
